Kim Kardashian appears to have undergone a medical procedure after doctors discovered “irregularities” in her throat that needed to be removed.

A preview for an upcoming episode of “The Kardashians” shows the 46-year old influencer and media personality in a hospital bed speaking with her mom, according to People.

“With my dad having passed away from esophagus cancer, hopefully I can just take medication and this will go away,” she said.

Her father, Robert Kardashian, famous for being part of O.J. Simpson‘s legal team, died in 2003. He was 59.

Kardashian said on the family’s reality TV show airing Thursday that she hadn’t told many people about her diagnosis because it isn’t something she wanted to discuss.

During this week’s episode of "The Kardashians," a doctor diagnosed Kim with esophagitis. A study cited by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) defines that as as “inflammation or injury to the esophageal mucosa” that has many causes. Treatments vary based on each case.

“In general, all types of esophagitis can mimic each other as the initial clinical presentation is usually similar and will require further detailed history and further diagnostic test including endoscopy and histopathology examination,” the NIH study says.

In the preview for next week, Kardashian says, “The doctor says my esophagus has these irregularities, and I have to have them cut out. It’s the same thing my dad had.”

She revealed in a 2025 episode of her show that she was diagnosed with a “little” brain aneurysm. Kardashian cited stress as the cause.
