The highly anticipated Crave series “Yaga” finally arrives on AMC+ this week, a witchy, sexy murder mystery that’s a perfect autumnal watch. The series, based on the play by Kat Sandler, who serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer, is inspired by the legend of Baba Yaga, but takes the form of a modern police procedural, set in a coastal town.

Noah Reid stars as Rapp, a private investigator who teams up with a local police detective (Clark Backo), to probe the disappearance of Henry Park (Hudson Williams), the bad-boy heir to a wealthy family. They run into complications with Henry’s housemate, Logan (also Williams), and a town full of femmes fatale, including a university professor, played by the legendary Carrie-Anne Moss.

The first two episodes of “Yaga” premiere on Friday, Oct. 23, on AMC+, and drop weekly until the two-part season finale on Nov. 27.

And while you’re poking around AMC+, you might as well enjoy more Noah Reid, who plays a delightfully churlish and flirty detective on “Yaga,” but also appeared in Season 3 of “Interview with a Vampire,” “The Vampire Lestat,” featuring the legendary vampire (Sam Reid) as a rock star, which is now streaming on AMC+ and Prime Video. You might also know Reid from “Schitt’s Creek,” streaming on Hulu and HBO Max.

For more witchy TV, check out “A Discovery of Witches,” a British fantasy series based on the “All Souls Trilogy” by Deborah Harkness. Matthew Goode and Teresa Palmer star as a vampire and a witch who fall in love and battle magical creatures. Stream it on Netflix and AMC+.

You might also check out “Sanctuary: A Witch's Tale,” on AMC+, which bills itself as “Big Little Lies” by way of “Practical Magic,” which is to say it features a small town in England where witches are accepted and celebrated, and the murder of a teenage boy at a party, which sets off a small-town modern witch hunt. The series is based on the book “Sanctuary: A Novel of Suspense, Witchcraft, and Small Town Secrets” by V.V. James, and is created by Debbie Horsfield, of the BBC series “Poldark.” Stream Seasons 1 and 2 on AMC+.

For more chilly coastal murder mystery, check out the series “The Killing,” which is based on the Danish show “Forbrydelsen" ("The Crime"). Starring Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, the series is set in Seattle and follows two homicide detectives. Stream all four seasons on Hulu and AMC+.

A list of witchy, sexy, Pacific Northwest murder mysteries wouldn’t be complete without the stone-cold classic that set the template, and is it’s own thing entirely — “Twin Peaks.” The series by David Lynch and Mark Frost is enduring for a reason: nothing else quite captures its eerie romanticism. Seasons 1 and 2 aired in 1990 and 1991, while Lynch directed a prequel film “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me” in 1992, exploring Laura Palmer’s world before she turned up dead. Lynch even returned to the series in 2017 with a third season “The Return.”

All three seasons of “Twin Peaks” are streaming on Paramount+ and Mubi, and “Fire Walk With Me” is on HBO Max. Don’t forget your pie and coffee for your watch party.
