NEW YORK — “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice pleaded for privacy Monday so her daughter Milania could heal in peace from some recent life upheavals.

“Milania has experienced tremendous heartbreak and significant psychological trauma after losing two of her best friends,” Giudice said in an Instagram story. “She is a young woman going through an incredibly difficult and deeply personal time, and she deserves the opportunity to heal without every moment of her pain being analyzed publicly.”

Giudice’s statement came after reports swirled around an emotionally charged incident between her, 20-year-old Milania and 25-year-old big sister Gia last week at Tampa International Airport, especially after police bodycam footage revealed more details. In one snippet obtained by TMZ Giudice told police that Milania had fentanyl in her system from a previous incident, followed closely by Milania’s voice saying she’d been laced.

Gia Giudice told police the family had hired a counselor to help her sister. Teresa could be heard telling Milania she wanted to “save your life,” according to TMZ.

A rep for the family told People that Milania was “ under the care of professionals” after the airport meltdown.

“Milania is deeply loved by her family and friends, and all of us are doing everything we can to support her as she navigates an incredibly difficult time in her life, particularly following the devastating loss of her best friend, Victoria,” spokeswoman Maria DeSantis told the magazine.

Victoria Zardoya, Milania’s best friend since childhood, fell on July 26 while exploring historic ruins at Fort Dade on Egmont Key, Florida, and died two days later at age 20. Teresa Giudice did not identify the second friend who she said Milania had lost.

At some point before the airport incident Milania had reportedly been evaluated at a mental health facility under the state’s Baker Act, which allows for involuntary examination of someone under certain conditions, according to TMZ.

The University of Tampa student was just 3 years old when her mom debuted on “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” and has grown up in the spotlight. Since then she has seen her mother and her father, Joe Giudice, serve prison time for mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud, then lived through her father’s deportation, followed by her parents’ divorce and her mother’s remarriage.

Milania was arrested in May in New Jersey and charged with simple assault in an alleged domestic violence incident. She pleaded not guilty and attended anger management classes, according to ENews.
