Perez Hilton site to resume operations as he receives inpatient care
Published in Entertainment News
Gossip blog PerezHilton.com will resume operations this week while its ailing founder remains hospitalized.
Mario Lavandeira Jr., better known as Perez Hilton, was hospitalized on Aug. 4 following an episode involving self-harm.
An update posted to his website Monday told fans that his website will soon return to posting celebrity buzz while the 48-year-old blogger continues getting help.
“His treatment is continuing in an inpatient setting under the care of a dedicated team of medical and mental health professionals,” Hilton’s family posted. “Starting this week, his team will begin publishing again, focusing on the day’s biggest stories.”
Hilton launched his eponymous site in 2004. He claimed at one point to have had more than 8 million daily readers.
The Miami native returned to his hometown in June after leaving his Las Vegas residence. His current hospitalization was preceded by previous medical issues including a blood clot in April. Hilton also said he spent three week under doctors’ care in March due to an ulcer that led to sepsis.
His family thanked supporters for remaining interested in Hilton’s personal and professional situation.
“Whether you have followed Perez from the beginning or only recently started reading, we hope you will continue visiting, reading, and sharing the site,” they wrote. “We deeply appreciate your support while Perez focuses on his health and recovery.”
