Johnny Depp is attempting a comeback tour, as evidenced by his surprise appearance at San Diego Comic-Con.

The once-beloved Oscar nominee, whose career took a dip after ex-wife Amber Heard accused him of abuse and the two faced off during a highly publicized defamation trial, showed up Thursday as Ebenezer Scrooge, who he’s playing in an upcoming “Christmas Carol” movie.

Depp’s Scrooge donned a top hat, fingerless gloves, gray curls, and long coat at the activation, where he asked the crowd, “Have you no jobs?” according to footage published by Variety.

News broke in late 2025 that Depp, now 63, would be taking on the Dickensian character in “Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol,” marking his first big studio role since the adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s “Fantastic Beast: The Crimes of Grindelwald” in 2018.

The “Harry Potter” author has also fallen from favor in recent years, facing immense backlash for espousing views widely regarded as transphobic.

Heard, 40, appeared to level allegations of abuse against Depp in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed, after which they filed dueling defamation suits that turned into an infamous joint trial in 2022.

The upcoming Paramount picture is directed by Ti West, who helmed the “X” horror trilogy, and co-stars “Harry Potter” alum Rupert Grint, Sam Claflin, Ian McKellen, Daisy Ridley and Andrea Riseborough.
