Chadwick Boseman's brothers have asked a Los Angeles court to remove the late actor's widow Taylor Simone Ledward as administrator of his estate.

The move comes as the late actor's relatives are alleging she has failed to distribute assets and has continued to exercise sole control over his affairs nearly six years after his death.

Chadwick, who died in August 2020 at the age of 43 following a private four-year battle with colon cancer, left no will.

The Black Panther star, whose portrayal of King T'Challa became a landmark moment for Marvel and global cinema, also earned acclaim for performances in 42, Marshall, Da 5 Bloods and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, the latter receiving him a posthumous Academy Award nomination.

Since his death, Chadwick's legacy has continued through the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which honoured the actor without recasting the role.

According to new court documents obtained by People, Chadwick's brothers, Kevin Boseman and Derrick Boseman, are now seeking the removal of Taylor Simone Ledward, 35, as administrator of his estate.

In the petition, Kevin and Derrick allege Taylor "continues to exercise complete control over his estate without input from Leroy and Carolyn" - referring to Chadwick's parents, Leroy Boseman and Carolyn Boseman, who they say are entitled to 25 per cent of the estate.

According to the filing, Taylor is entitled to 50 per cent of the estate because Chadwick died intestate approximately six days after the couple married in 2020.

The petition states a court issued a "Final Order" in 2022 directing Taylor to distribute estate assets, including a $40,000 long-term care policy to Carolyn.

Kevin and Derrick allege Taylor "continues to exert unilateral control over Decedent's estate, denying Decedent's family long overdue closure or participation in decision-making regarding matters affecting Leroy and Carolyn's interests in Decedent's estate".

The brothers further claim the estate includes assets beyond those previously disclosed, including "royalties and residuals, image and intellectual property rights, real property, a previously undisclosed bank account at CNB, and other personal property".

According to the filing, Taylor's "lack of transparency creates the appearance that she is concealing assets from Decedent's family and from the Court".

The petition also alleges the long-term care policy has not been distributed to Carolyn and that one of Chadwick's bank accounts, together with an individual retirement account, remains open.

Kevin and Derrick further claim "numerous residual payments from SAG-AFTRA dating between 2020 and the present" remain unaccounted for and that unclaimed property belonging to Chadwick has never been "marshalled, accounted for, or distributed".

The filing additionally alleges Taylor "failed to distribute Decedent's image and intellectual property rights by exerting unilateral control" so that she "continues to profit from Decedent's fame".

Kevin and Derrick also claim Taylor has "blocked" Chadwick's family from "pursuing lucrative business opportunities that might benefit Decedent's elderly parents".

In the petition, the brothers ask the court to appoint private professional fiduciary and forensic accountant Jason Rubin as administrator of Chadwick's estate in place of Taylor.

The petition has yet to be determined by the court.
