Taylor Swift has confirmed she has written an original song for Disney and Pixar's upcoming Toy Story 5 after months of speculation from fans.

The 36-year-old singer-songwriter announced on Instagram on Monday (01.06.26) her new track, titled I Knew It, I Knew You, will feature in the fifth instalment of the animated franchise.

Her song is due for release on 5 June, ahead of Toy Story 5 arriving in cinemas on 19 June.

Taylor said on Instagram: "It's a Toy Story - you knew it! My new original song I Knew It, I Knew You for Disney and @pixar's @toystory 5 will be yours on June 5th."

The Grammy winner also explained the project held special significance because of her lifelong connection to the beloved animated series.

She said she had "always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who [she has] adored since [she] was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie".

Taylor added: "I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening."

She continued: "Sometimes you just know, right?"

Taylor concluded her announcement by telling fans: "You can pre-order now exclusively on my site and catch Toy Story 5 in theaters June 19th."

The singer accompanied the post with a carousel of images, including a photograph of herself surrounded by flowers. Additional slides appeared to tease artwork for original, piano and acoustic versions of the song.

Taylor also shared links via Instagram Stories to three collector's edition CDs, describing them as featuring "unique vocals and production".

Speculation surrounding the collaboration had been building among fans since April, when a Toy Story-themed countdown briefly appeared on Taylor's website.

It had a blue sky background with white clouds resembling imagery associated with the Pixar franchise and was visible for only 10 minutes before disappearing.

Later that week, Taylor was photographed in New York City wearing a blue-and-white striped dress, red heels and carrying a yellow bag, prompting fans on social media to suggest the colour scheme referenced characters and imagery from the Toy Story films.

One fan wrote on X last month: "If Taylor announces an original song for Toy Story 5, the Internet might actually break. Disney + Taylor is a dream combo."

The announcement comes during a busy period for Taylor, who has remained in the headlines following the record-breaking success of The Eras Tour and her relationship with fiancé Travis Kelce, 36, the Kansas City Chiefs star.

Taylor is also best known for hits including Love Story, Shake It Off, Blank Space and Anti-Hero, which have helped make her one of the most successful recording artists of her generation.

Taylor and Travis began dating in 2023 and became engaged two years later.

Reports have stated the couple are due to marry in New York City next month.

Disney and Pixar's Toy Story franchise remains one of the most successful animated series in cinema history, with characters including Woody and Buzz Lightyear becoming cultural icons since the first film was released in 1995.
