Madonna samples Detroit techno innovator on new song 'Bring Your Love'

DETROIT — Madonna is reviving a Detroit dancefloor classic on her new single "Bring Your Love," which was released Thursday.
The song, a collaboration with Madonna's Coachella partner Sabrina Carpenter, samples "Good Life," the immortal 1988 club hit from Kevin Saunderson's Inner City. Saunderson is credited as a songwriter on "Bring Your Love," alongside Madonna, Stuart Price, Roy Holman and Shanna Jackson.
"Bring Your Love" finds Madonna and Carpenter trading defiant lines about knowing where the "bodies are buried," while "Good Life's" house beat provides its musical backbone.
The track — which is produced by Madonna and Stuart Price, along with Parisi, the Italian production team who has also worked with Swedish House Mafia and Fred Again — is the lead single and second release from Madonna's forthcoming "Confessions II," her sequel to 2005's "Confessions on a Dance Floor." The song harkens back to classic-era Madonna tracks like "Vogue" and "Express Yourself," and features a lot of commanding whispering from the Material Girl(s).
"Good Life" has been sampled many times over the years, including songs by Britney Spears ("Up n' Down"), Rihanna ("Bubble Pop") and Hercules and Love Affair ("You Belong"). It's largely considered to be a dance music classic and a hugely influential piece of music.
"'Good Life' is a song that's going to touch people forever, it's gonna inspire people, change their mood when they need it, it's definitely going to make them dance — whether the original or a remix," Saunderson told DJ Mag in 2014. "It's that kind of song."
Madonna's "Confessions II" is due out July 3, just in time for your July 4 weekend parties.
