Marc Anthony says the Beckham family drama is "unfortunate", but insisted how it is playing out is "hardly the truth".

The 57-year-old singer and actor was namechecked by Brooklyn Beckham during his lengthy bombshell Instagram post last month, in which he accused his parents of being responsible for their family rift.

Brooklyn, 26, also accused his mum, Victoria Beckham, 51, of "hijacking" his first dance with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, after Marc had called him to the stage.

But the You Sang To Me hitmaker - who is godfather to Brooklyn's brother, Cruz Beckham, 20 - has insisted the Beckhams are a "wonderful, wonderful family".

When asked if he had anything to say about being "pulled into" the Beckham "situation", he told The Hollywood Reporter: "I have nothing to say about what's happening with the family.

"They're a wonderful, wonderful family. I've known them since before the kids were born. I'm godfather to Cruz.

"I'm really close to the family.

"But I have nothing to say about what happened there.

"It's extremely unfortunate how it's playing out - but [how it's playing out] is hardly the truth."

Marc performed at Brooklyn and Nicola's wedding reception, and the groom claimed last month that the singer had called him up for what he thought would be a first dance with his bride - only for his mother to be on stage instead.

Brooklyn claimed she "danced very inappropriately" on him, leaving him "humiliated".

Part of his six-slide Instagram statement read: "My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song.

"In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead.

"She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.

"We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment."

Elsewhere in the shock statement, Brooklyn insisted he does "not want to reconcile" with his family due to their relationship with his wife Nicola, and he also accused his parents, Victoria and dad Sir David Beckham, of trying to "ruin" his relationship with actress Nicola, 31, before they married in 2022.
