Two police officers injured, suspect dead following shooting in Atlantic City

A suspect is dead and two police officers were injured in a shooting in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Tuesday.
The incident occurred on the 100 block of North Florida Avenue on Tuesday afternoon. Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small said police were executing a search warrant on the block at the time of the shooting.
Small added that he had been to the scene of the shooting, and visited the injured officers in the hospital, where they were in stable condition.
“From what I understand, they’re stable,” Small said by telephone. “They were executing a search warrant and a suspect is dead.”
The mayor would not detail the officers’ wounds, but said, “It was good one was wearing a helmet.”
The shooting, Small added, would be investigated as any other “officer-involved shooting.”
Atlantic City Police Department spokesperson Matt Duffy declined to provide further information, but confirmed that there was a law enforcement investigation on the 100 block of North Florida Avenue. The investigation remained ongoing Tuesday evening, and Duffy asked members of the public to avoid the area.
