Amazon.com Inc.’s business sales unit was recently on track to sell $60 billion of merchandise over the course of a full year, up about 71% from 2023, evidence that the world’s largest online retailer is gaining ground in corporate sales.

Amazon Business, a service that lets a range of businesses, schools and government entities place recurring or bulk orders online, reached the sales milestone in the second quarter of this year, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Amazon started its business sales push in 2012 with Amazon Supply, which was rebooted as Amazon Business three years later. Much of the early growth was driven by companies converting personal or shared accounts to business ones, lured by the promise of special ordering options and corporate discounts.

More recently, the company has successfully courted big organizations with business-specific features such as custom quotes and bulk delivery. Customers include the University of California at San Diego, Nasdaq Inc. and Amazon’s own operations. There are more than 11 million Amazon Business accounts, the company said, with some 1.8 million of those signing on since the beginning of 2026.

The company hasn’t disclosed much about the profitability of its corporate sales vertical. As with its main retail site, Amazon Business in recent years has rolled out AI-powered features, including a chatbot and software designed to highlight unusual purchases to flag potential mistakes.
