Celebrity Travel: Go away with Telvin Griffin

Jae-Ha Kim, Tribune Content Agency on

A: London. I'm fascinated with history and am looking forward to seeing the palace and Big Ben. If I could free up some time, I'd love to do a play there and live there for a month or two. I hear it rains a lot there, which might not be fun. But for me, it would be the experience of just being somewhere that I've always wanted to see. Driving on the other side of the road will be an experience in and of itself! (Laughs.)

Q: What is your guilty pleasure when you're on the road?

A: Reese's White Peanut Butter Cups and a 20-ounce cream soda. I have a little sweet tooth.

Q: What is your best vacation memory?

A: When I was in elementary school and all the kids were on summer break, we rented two 15-passenger vans and made a road trip to Memphis. I think the parents coordinated so they all could be off that week too. I remember it being one of my first times in a different state that wasn't Arkansas or Texas. It was awesome, because it kind of turned into a history-learning trip, too. We went to the Lorraine Motel where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was killed. At the time, I was a kid and didn't really understand the magnitude of being there. But as I learned more and more through the years, I'd always think about the time we went there. We also went to the National Civil Rights Museum and the whole family got to be up close and personal with the very bus Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on. To cap off our vacation, we all went to Libertyland, which is a theme park in Memphis.
