Learning how to train a pitbull puppy not to bite is not as difficult as some people might suggest. Although there is nothing pleasant about a bite from your pet, it is important to realize that these types of dogs by nature are generally prone to biting.

The bite of a pitbull puppy might be an act of aggression or simply a form of play. You can however teach your dog not to commit either by using the right training methods.

The first step towards training your puppy is to create the right relationship. Your pet will only listen to your promptings if it recognizes your roles as his owner. Pitbulls are particularly unique in that they are more dominant than other dogs.

If you do not quickly establish some control, your puppy might become more aggressive towards you and refuse to listen to your orders. You can establish a relationship by playing more with your dog while he is still young and feeding him his meals.

Taking your pet for walks with a leash will also teach him to respect your leadership and control.

The next step involved in learning how to train a pitbull puppy not to bite is to react whenever this happens. While cuddling or playing with your pet, he will likely try to bite you a couple of times.

Do not condone it. Instead, show your displeasure immediately in such situations. Yell in annoyance and immediately stop playing with your dog when he tries to bite you (regardless of how light or harmless the bite might have been).

Once your pitbull puppy senses that you do not approve of being bitten, they will be discouraged from continuing with the act.

Learning how to train a pitbull puppy not to bite is a lot easier when they are still in their early weeks. It is important that your pet identifies with your leadership or else you will find it very difficult to control them in the future.

Be firm when dealing with him. If you want to place your puppy on his back, do so gently but firmly. Do not yield to his struggles or he might come to consider you as weak. This is obviously not what you want.

After a few weeks of adopting these steps, you'll find that you've made a remarkable amount of progress in learning how to train a pitbull puppy not to bite.
