Auto review: Volvo V60 may be the best car of 2024
Published in Automotive News
Volvo vehicles are easily the most lauded and endorsed in Grasso’s Garage, and for good reason. Their easy display of comfort and luxury is always surprising to me, but their design stands out the most.
Appeal is in the eye of the beholder, and this week’s tester, the Volvo V60 Recharge confirms this because, in our eyes, its appeal, usability and power are second to none.
The V60 Recharge gets Polestar engineering added to its 2024 model and this PHEV is one amazing vehicle. While sitting low like a sedan, it has the space of a SUV and hybrid technology from Polestar. Our onyx black tester came standard with 455 horsepower and 523 pound-feet of torque from the 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder T8 eAWD plug-in hybrid engine. Paired nicely with an eight-speed Geartronic automatic transmission, this combination defines smooth power and luxury while others should take note. Acceleration from 0-60 mph takes 4.3 seconds. Mileage was an overall 31 mpg. Forty miles on just electric charge was available, while overall we noticed 535 miles on a tank of gas.
I don’t know how else to say it, but the Volvo V60 Recharge is simply perfection for consumers looking for that sedan ride, with SUV space, while having excellent mileage and instant power and torque. This is a winning combination, and Volvo leaves competing manufacturers in the dust. Did I mention all-wheel drive? Yup, check that box also!
More consumers looking in today’s market need to give Volvo a serious look. As a Volvo XC60 owner myself, I say this brand is easily the top of the list. And with the V60 going hybrid, I think it’s time to order one for myself. To say this is the overall vehicle of the year in 2024 is an understatement.
