My Answer

From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham

Q: It was disturbing to me to hear in church that God didn’t create all things equal. Does He make distinctions between human life and other created life? Doesn’t the Bible say that man is like grass that flourishes and flowers that fade? – G.C.

A: God made the human race different from other creatures and plant life. He made man in His own image, a living soul. When the human body dies and the earthly existence is terminated, the soul lives on forever. One thousand years from this day you will be more alive than you are at this moment. The Bible teaches that life does not end at the cemetery. There is a future life with God for those who put their trust in His Son, Jesus Christ. There is also a future hell of separation from God for those who have refused, rejected, or neglected to receive His Son, the Savior of the soul.

Victor Hugo once said, “I feel in myself the future of life.” Cyrus the Great is reported to have declared, “I cannot imagine that the soul lives only while it remains in this mortal body.”

“As for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone … . But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who [obey] Him” (Psalm 103:15–17, NKJV).

God’s love compelled Him to create humanity and His love was expressed in the creation of the human race. He alone is able to meet every need of those who put their trust in Him and live their lives giving glory to the Creator of all things.
