What is the heart of the problem that’s caused our nation to lose its way?

Q: People say that the problem with America is that we need more education and opportunity. Surely no one can really believe that, but what is the heart of the problem that’s caused our nation to lose its way? – B.H.

A: The broken home has become the number one social problem in America, and it could ultimately lead to the destruction of our civilization. This won’t be a screaming headline, but, like termites, it is eating away at the heart and core of the American structure. When the home begins to break, the society is on the way to disintegration.

Many homes today are on the rocks because God has been left out of the domestic picture. There’s been a breakdown of marriages. There’s the absence of loving discipline and accountability in the home. And with the advancement of technology, every source of amusement and instruction pouring poison into daily life is a tap away. It’s no surprise that the minds of people are ready to receive anything but the truth, conditioned to believe lies.

From the beginning of time, the basic unit of society has been the home. What is meant by a home? It isn’t a house – a structure – but a family. Many families are in danger of losing their homes. “Home” has always been symbolic of family life. But the home fulfills its true purpose only when it is God-controlled.

What is the solution? It may sound hard, but it really isn’t. The key is to make Christ the center of marriage, family, and the home. A home is like a solar system. The center, the great sun, holds the solar system together. If it were not for the sun, the solar system would fly to pieces. Unless Jesus Christ reigns in your home, it may, too, fly to pieces. Put Christ in charge – He changes everything.
