Ashley St. Clair says she was offered $40 million to remain silent about her relationship with Elon Musk, who fathered one of her two children.

The 28-year-old former MAGA activist claimed during a Venice Film Festival promoting director Alex Gibney’s documentary about Musk that she refused the enormous windfall so she could continue to tell her story about life with the world’s wealthiest man.

St. Clair’s revelation came after another speaker at a Q&A that included Gibney said people who’ve worked for the billionaire Tesla owner speak ill of him because of the unfriendly manner in which he treats some of his employees.

“For me, it was a bit different because on my end, I was offered the opportunity not to speak for $40 million,” St. Clair claimed.

St. Clair announced in February 2025 she’d given birth to one of Musk’s children several months earlier. He’s believed to have at least 14 kids with several women.

“When you’re offered something like that, it really causes a debate in your head about what your speech means and how valuable that is and why do they want to offer me this amount of money to not speak?” she said on Tuesday.

Musk — who describes himself as a “free speech absolutist” — posted on his social media platform X last week that he doesn’t expect Gibney’s documentary to be kind.

“Alex Gibney is obviously going to make the most convincingly terrible hit piece on me that he can possibly think of,” the 55-year-old entrepreneur wrote. “He’s a douchebag to his core and, in his own words, incredibly biased against me.”

Musk hasn’t addressed St. Clair’s claim.

“Musk” opens in the U.S next month.
