Evacuation warning issued for wildfire in Colorado's southwest Douglas County

DENVER — Douglas County officials issued a preevacuation warning for a wildfire burning about 15 miles southwest of Castle Rock near the Devils Head Recreation Area on Saturday evening.
The Log Jumper fire is burning on less than an acre near Jackson Creek Road and Rampart Range Road, according to the Bureau of Land Management’s wildfire dashboard and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s officials sent out an evacuation warning for a 3-mile radius around the fire and said anyone who may need extra time to evacuate and people with pets or livestock should consider leaving now.
Firefighters are working to contain the fire and the county’s firefighting helicopter is dropping water on it, the sheriff’s office said.
There are road closures in the area, including on South Platte River Road and South Highway 67/Sugar Creek Road.
