The San Francisco 49ers made a move on Tuesday to add depth to a receiving corps that has been ravaged by injuries, signing veteran Brandin Cooks to the practice squad, according to ESPN.

Three days shy of turning 33, Cooks has played 12 seasons in the NFL with six teams.

In 10 games with New Orleans and five with Buffalo last season, he caught 24 passes for 279 yards and no touchdowns.

Overall, Cooks, a Stockton, Calif., native, has 734 receptions for 9,811 yards and 60 touchdowns.

The 49ers were in need of a receiver after losing Demarcus Robinson to a high-ankle sprain in a win over Miami on Sunday.

Robinson is likely headed for injured reserve, meaning he will miss a minimum of four games.

He was the latest 49ers receiver to go down.

Rookie De’Zhaun Stribling suffered a high-ankle sprain in the season opener against the Rams on Sept. 10 and is expected to miss 2 1/2 months after undergoing surgery.

Ricky Pearsall (knee) is out for the season, and Christian Kirk (calf) is on IR. Kirk isn’t expected back for a few more weeks.
