BOSTON — Patriots seventh-round pick Quintayvious Hutchins was arraigned Wednesday morning on domestic assault and battery charges on a family or household member in Newton District Court, the Middlesex District Attorney’s office stated.
Hutchins, 23, pleaded not guilty and was released on personal recognizance, the DA’s office said. The defendant was ordered to stay away and have no contact with the alleged victim.
The Patriots released a statement to reporters about the matter on Wednesday morning.
“We are aware of the report involving Quintayvious Hutchins,” the statement read. “We take these matters very seriously and are in the process of gathering additional information. We will not have further comment at this time.”
The incident took place May 12 at a dorm on the Boston College campus, according to a police report. Hutchins allegedly grabbed a woman by the neck, according to a witness. The police report stated that the woman said “nothing happened,” she was “OK” and that she didn’t want pictures taken of her neck.
Hutchins, an edge defender, was selected 247th overall in the 2026 NFL draft out of Boston College. He participated in rookie minicamp on Saturday but left the session early with an apparent injury.
The Bessemer, Ala. native was a team captain at Boston College in 2025.
The Patriots have seven other edge defenders on their roster in fellow rookies Gabe Jacas and Xavier Holmes and veterans Harold Landry III, Dre’Mont Jones, Elijah Ponder, Jesse Luketa and Bradyn Swinson.
Hutchins is scheduled to return to Newton District Court on June 29.
