Celebrity Travel: Go away with Will Ropp
A: I wouldn't say I'm fluent, but I can get by in Spanish. I wish I picked up languages easily. It took eight years of Spanish in school just to get where I am now.
Q: What are your five favorite cities?
A: Jacksonville, San Diego, Las Vegas, Ann Arbor and Paris.
Q: Where have you traveled to that most reminded you of home?
A: I'm actually in Ann Arbor (right now), where I went to college (at the University of Michigan). It really became a second home for me. I grew up a lot while I was at school there. This trip really feels like a homecoming.
Q: Where would you like to go that you have never been to before?
A: Norway and Montserrat. I've always had this strange dream that I'd get married in Norway, and one of my best friends grew up in Montserrat, so I've always wanted to visit.
Q: When you go away, what are some of your must-have items?
A: Tweezers. I have a hard time growing facial hair, so I don't really need a razor, but I like to keep a polished appearance.
Q: What is your guilty pleasure when you're on the road?
A: I love regional fast food. I only have it on rare occasions – just a couple of times a year, but it's fun to see the restaurants change with the scenery.
Q: What kind of research do you do before you go away on a trip?
A: Mostly, I do no research at all. I get to discover wherever I am spontaneously and really explore. I will say it really helps to know someone who lives there. I guess I'm trusting my friends to do the research.
