Auto review: 2026 Lexus TX550h+ shines bright for upscale consumers

As Lexus continues to delve into its expansive consumer base’s wants and needs, the Lexus TX earned its nameplate with its expansive space and comfort.

The lower-priced three-row SUV doesn’t bring as great off-road capabilities to the table as the LX does, but it still can move people in comfort and style — just the ticket. The Lexus TX model delivers nicely to consumers who need something bigger than the newly designed GX, with more space while not breaking the bank entirely.

Similar to the Toyota Grand Highlander, the Lexus TX offers seating capacity for seven passengers (six with the luxury model).

With a total vehicle weight of almost 5,000 pounds, the powertrain selected for the TX550h+ is a plug-in hybrid 3.5-liter V-6 engine that boasts 259 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid system offered 33 miles on pure electric charge, and we saw 28 mpg on our weeklong 700-mile test, which was pretty impressive.

With Lexus accomplishing top priorities for consumers, the TX550h+ delivers a high-end experience. Its interior is exceptionally comfortable and specifically designed for luxury and design.

Although it shares a lot of similarities with the Toyota Grand Highlander, which has a $41K base price and a $49K top model price, the additional Lexus features show nice styling and design. The infotainment system was also similar to other Lexus models, and our TX550h+ AWD had an exceptional amount of pep for a hybrid. This was a pleasure on wheels — easily a win for consumers and the brand congruently.
