My Answer
From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham
Q: How can I be sure there really is a God? – K.G.
A: We can’t prove the existence of God scientifically. We cannot put God in a test tube and say, “There’s God.” We cannot get a mathematical equation and say, “I’ve captured God.” You can’t prove God on a computer screen or in a laboratory.
But the evidence is overwhelming that God exists. There’s no evidence that God does not exist. God has proven Himself in many ways – not that He has to prove Himself at all, for God is. But nature alone is enough proof, though there’s more. When a seed sprouts and its beauty is captured, and food is produced for sustenance, we know that God has not forgotten the least necessity for us.
God tells us that man plants seed, and whether he sleeps or gets up, “the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain” (Mark 4:27–28, NIV).
Look at the crescent moon hanging in the sky. Who put it there? There are millions of planets in perfect harmony, in perfect precision. Stars sprinkle the heavens. God is the Mastermind behind it all. When a baby is born and the cry is evidence of the breath of life, we remember: God breathed into man the breath of life (see Genesis 2:7).
He reveals Himself so wonderfully in the Bible. God reveals Himself most fully in Jesus Christ, because when you look at Jesus, you’re looking at the God-man. He is God incarnate. The Bible says, “God … has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds” (Hebrews 1:1–2, NKJV).
Since God created us, He can fix us when we get broken. We’re broken, and we need fixing. Christ will do that if we let Him.
