Why is the same mankind unable to accept the wonders of God?
From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham
Q: I’m a med student and learning about chemical changes, particularly on how molecular transformations drive human physiology and pharmacology. To observe what God has allowed mankind to do in the realm of science and medicine, nothing comes close to the wonder of what God has done to change a sinner into a saint. If people can believe in themselves to accomplish such things as sustaining life through medicine to putting human beings on another planet, why is the same mankind unable to accept the wonders of God who has created it all and enables man to tap the resources of its Creator God? – W.A.
A: The actinic ray is that property of fire which works chemical change. It turns wood to ashes, tempers steel, and changes the form and color of objects that come in contact with it. It’s this property, in the rays of the sun, which transforms seeds into plants, buds into flowers, and grass into hay. It’s the miracle ray that makes useless things useful through the process of change. Like the calorific ray, it’s also a physical symbol of God’s ability to do mightier things in the spiritual realm.
When a person comes in contact with God, he can never be the same again. This “fire” either draws or drives, saves or destroys, helps or hinders. Accepted and utilized, it becomes a boon and a blessing. Rejected, it becomes a bane and a curse.
God takes the weak and makes them strong. He takes the vile and makes them clean. He takes the worthless and makes them worthwhile. He takes the sinful and makes them sinless.
It’s God who puts faith inside the human heart; it’s mankind’s responsibility to reach out and grasp this wondrous love of God. With this in mind, God told the Prophet Ezekiel, “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit” (Ezekiel 36:26, KJV).
