Will Hollywood ever sort out who Jesus really is?

on

From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham

Q: I applied to the online casting website to be an extra in the hit show The Chosen. I thought the experience would give me a little taste of Heaven on Earth, and a little stipend. I quickly learned that a donation must accompany the application, but I thought it would be worthwhile. I went, I acted (as part of a large crowd), left, and am disillusioned because the story departed greatly from the Biblical account, depicting Jesus as a “handyman.” Now I’m trying to sort out who Jesus really is. – J.I.

A: We must not be blinded by our own ideas or what others say about Jesus. Jesus is the Creator of the universe (see John 1:3), and He is the One who holds everything together (see Colossians 1:17). The Apostle Paul writes that God was manifest in the flesh (see 1 Timothy 3:16), and John the evangelist says that “the Word was God” (John 1:1, NKJV). Jesus is not just a mere man; He is the Son of God, and the sign which Jesus Himself said would demonstrate this was His resurrection from the dead (see John 20:30–31).

Jesus is the Christ. He is not dead. He was raised from the grave. He is alive and wants to save the souls of men, women, and children. He stands ready to forgive, transform, save, and make holy those who will receive Him with humble and believing hearts that He is who He says He is: Lord, Savior, Master, and Friend to sinners. He is the way, the truth, and the life.

Every word He spoke is historically, scientifically, and ethically true in the age in which He lived and in every age before and after His three-year ministry on Earth.

The greatest work that Jesus did was not in the carpenter’s shop. His greatest work was achieved in three dark hours on the cross at Calvary: dying for the sins of mankind.
