Guys, are your health blind spots endangering your future?
The Cleveland Clinic's "MENtion It" campaign has been doing annual surveys for 11 years of men's attitudes and actions concerning their own health. Unfortunately, they've found that guys aren't making smart choices. For example, the surveys found that 41% of guys were told as children that men don't complain about health issues and more than half say that, as an adult, they simply don't talk about their health. Around 20% say they don't even talk about health concerns to their doctors! (I bet it's more.) So it's not surprising that a new survey related to the campaign shows just how much that tangles up many men's self-care routines.
Dig this: 74% say that they rarely or never trust health information shared by influencers, yet 39% admit they've tried a new diet or wellness trend after seeing it on social media. Even more risky: 40% of guys surveyed said they try to self-diagnose based on information found on social media, and 30% use supplements or performance enhancers promoted on social media, even though that's risky unless your doctor has diagnosed you and given you a legit Rx.
