NEW YORK — Three men were seen early Wednesday emerging from a Park Avenue manhole near the Upper East Side hotel where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be staying during the United Nations General Assembly, police said.

Surveillance video captured the black-clad trio exiting the manhole at Park Avenue and East 61st Street around 4:30 a.m., cops said. Police believe the trespassers went underground shortly before through a subway access gate at East 63rd Street and Fifth Avenue.

The suspects then fled uptown in two vehicles on Park Avenue and have not been caught, police said.

Police believe the three trespassers are Urban Explorers. There was no indication of a threat against Netanyahu, who is scheduled to address the General Assembly Thursday.

“We have seen a number of incidents over the past few months of individuals going into the sewer system to look for valuables and other scrap metal after a storm,” the NYPD said in a statement. “This incident fits that same criteria, but out of an abundance of caution given the U.N. General Assembly and the sensitivity of the location, the NYPD is conducting additional security sweeps with our federal partners.”

“NYPD has a robust response to these incidents, which were deployed overnight and additional measures today,” the department added.

The underground trespassing is the latest in a string of similar incidents, including a May 28 intrusion through a Brooklyn manhole that led to two arrests.

Anthoni Jose Navas Arias, 36, and Taylor Javier Parra Alviares, 39, were arrested on June 28 and charged with criminal trespass for delving into the sewers beneath McDonald Avenue near Colin Place in Gravesend.

The suspects were among a group of men spotted removing the sewer manhole cover around 1 a.m. and then exiting nearly three hours later.

The trespassers then fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. No injuries were reported.
