Q&A: Controlling the Spread of Bamboo
Answer: Bamboo spreads by underground stems. Since it was not planted in a container originally some sort of barrier needs to be installed. You will probably have to install metal edging at least one foot deep around the bamboo to keep it contained. It would be best if there was lawn on the other side of the edging, so you can mow down and kill any errant sprouts that come up.

How do you kill it?
I would also like to know how to kill it. We "inherited" invasive, completely out-of-control bamboo when we bought the house. I can handle the shoots coming up in the lawn but not the rest of it.
Thanks.
Thanks.

you need to research bamboo before you buy it.. their are clumping varities.. i have wandering bamboo but it is easly controled with the trusty lawnmower... bamboo is well worth the effort...bamboo produce more oxygen than other trees.. they are good to have around..
