Q&A: Attracting Ladybugs
Answer: Beneficial insects will arrive like magic if there are insects to eat. The best way to attract them is not to use any pesticides. You can also purchase beneficial insects to release but unless there is a food supply for them to eat they won't stay around very long!

Ladybugs
When we purchased ladybugs for our rose garden, we were told that we should plant catnip, parsley and/or cilantro to keep them home bound. They will eat the aphids on the roses and utilize the herbs for other snacks. I was also told not to panic when I saw some awful looking bugs with orange spots = these are the baby lady bugs (who would have thought) and you don't want to kill the next generation. We don't use any chemicals since we have dogs and cats and our gardens are doing very, very well.
