Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs misses practice with new injury

ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs missed practice Wednesday with a shoulder injury, according to the team's official injury report.
The Lions had several starters missing from practice as coach Dan Campbell tried to get players "off their feet" ahead of a pivotal division game against the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field this week.
But Gibbs, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) and defensive tackle Tyleik Williams (illness) were all missing for injury- or illness-related reasons.
Offensive tackle Penei Sewell and defensive linemen Aidan Hutchinson, Alim McNeill and DJ Wonnum were absent from the field during the portion of practice accessible to the media, but all had "rest" designations.
Any time Gibbs misses would put the Lions into something just shy of crisis mode. The "bell cow" back has accounted for 53% of the team's offensive touches with 166 carries and receptions and 35.9% of the team's scrimmage yards (890) through six games. It's currently unclear how severe the injury is.
Gibbs went down awkwardly at the end of the team's 20-17 win over the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field this past Sunday but was cleared of an ankle injury. Gibbs had 29 carries for 116 yards and five catches for 27 yards in the victory.
St. Brown was the only player who was truly expected not to be at practice, as he deals with an ankle injury sustained in the win over the Green Bay Packers.
Two notable players who were present: safety Kerby Joseph and cornerback Ennis Rakestraw. Joseph (knee) practiced for the first time this season, while Rakestraw (ankle) was not expected to practice until Thursday.
