Jay-Z to reportedly headline halftime show for Super Bowl LXI

NEW YORK — Jay-Z is going to star in his own Super Bowl halftime show, according to a report.
Roc Nation, an entertainment and management agency founded by Jay-Z, is partnered with the NFL and has worked with the league on its major music programming since 2019. As the NFL’s “live music entertainment strategist,” the Grammy Award-winner mulled several options for the 2027 Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, including Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber.
In the end, Jay-Z felt he was a “more compelling” choice than any of the proposed alternatives, Puck News reported, citing sources.
Super Bowl LXI is scheduled to take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., but so far, no official announcement has been made about the halftime show headliner. If Jay-Z does perform, he would be following last year’s star, Bad Bunny.
Bad Bunny's performance at Super Bowl LX, which took place at Levi Stadium, made television history this year by winning seven Emmys at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The production took home the coveted award for Outstanding Variety Special (Live), along with technical wins for directing, music direction, choreography, sound mixing, lighting design, and technical direction/camerawork.
It would also mark Jay-Z’s first time headlining the Super Bowl.
In 2019, Roc Nation reportedly secured a $5 million-a-year deal to produce the halftime show performance, and the company again agreed to the same deal in 2024, extending the arrangement for another 5 years.
