'Does not sound very optimistic.' Dolphins RB De'Von Achane suffers knee injury.

MIAMI — Miami Dolphins star running back De’Von Achane left Sunday's game vs. the Kansas City Chiefs with a knee injury and was later ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
In his postgame press conference, coach Jeff Hafley gave a somewhat dark prognosis.
“To be very honest with you, it does not sound very optimistic at this moment,” Hafley said.
Achane was supposed to be the driving force of the offense in 2026 after being handsomely rewarded with a four-year contract extension worth $68 million, $32 million of which is guaranteed. With center Aaron Brewer receiving a similar extension and the Dolphins drafting offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor in the first round, the message was simple: the Dolphins were going to be a run-first team.
“I want to run the football,” Hafley said in Napa Valley, Calif. “We have to run the football! That’s all there is to it.”
The issue now is how much do the Dolphins rely on Ollie Gordon II. Unfortunately, running back Jaylen Wright is out with a stinger and foot injuries.
“You just always got to have the next man up mentality and be ready to go whenver your number is called,” Gordon said.
And with the Dolphins not adding another running back to the active roster prior to kickoff, Gordon will be the only tailback in the backfield for the rest of the game. Through two and a half quarters, Gordon has rushed for 27 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. He’s also caught three passes for 15 yards.
