Knicks star Jalen Brunson appears on 'Law & Order: SVU'

NEW YORK — Knicks star Jalen Brunson took his talents to NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU” on Thursday.
The championship-winning point guard played a detective opposite Knicks fan Mariska Hargitay in a scene that takes place in a diner where “Detective Madison” is congratulated on his promotion.
“Thanks, Captain,” Brunson, the star of Madison Square Garden, says to Hargitay’s character. “Focused on my goals, give 110 percent, things worked out.”
“Yeah, they did,” Hargitay responds with a grin.
The Knicks MVP wasn’t the only Brunson in the scene; his dad, Rick Brunson, has a blink-and-you’ll-miss-him walk-on role right before Det. Benson enters the diner.
Hargitay was more than happy to play a supporting role when Brunson led the Knicks to the NBA title in June.
“I love you so much, I’m so happy,” she said, hugging the NBA Finals’ Most Valuable Player at mid-court in San Antonio.
Hargitay frequently showed up at the Garden to support the Knicks throughout their dream season. Another Knicks fan had her loyalty called into question by backup point guard Tyler Kolek on Thursday.
Asked to name a “fake fan” who jumped on the bandwagon, Kolek dunked on Taylor Swift.
“I don’t know if I’ve seen her at any other games,” he told the NBA 2K TikTok livestream. “I guess she has a lot going on so she can’t come all the time.”
He said her court side enthusiasm strikes him as “a little performative.”
Kolek acknowledged after making his comment that Swift’s famously adoring fan base wouldn’t be pleased with his take.
A Knicks spokesperson defended Swift, who got married in the Garden in July.
“Taylor Swift has been a Knicks fan for many years, has a long history with Madison Square Garden, and we are incredibly appreciative of her support of the organization,” the organization told Billboard.
The singer is also a fixture at games featuring the Kansas City Chiefs, for whom her husband, three-time Super Bowl champ Travis Kelce, is the starting tight. She teamed up with host Hargitay to shoot a “Law & Order: SVU” spoof that aired during the 78th Emmy Awards ceremony in September.
