SAN ANTONIO — Ten days ago, the Detroit Pistons lost to the San Antonio Spurs, and they believed the lessons learned from that defeat would have benefited them in their rematch at Frost Bank Center on Thursday. This is particularly true when it came to gaining experience from playing against Victor Wembanyama.

In what could have been another preview of the NBA Finals, the Pistons were unable to apply the lessons learned, which resulted in a 121-106 loss. With the defeat, the Pistons ended their three-game road trip with a 1-2 record. They are now 45-16 overall.

The Spurs were led by their All-Star duo of De'Aaron Fox and Victor Wembanyama, who combined for 46 of San Antonio’s 71 points in the first half, which led to San Antonio leading Detroit 71-55 by the halftime break.

Wembanyama led all players with 38 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks. Fox finished with 29 points. He scored 22 in the first half.

Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with 26 points on 10-of-26 shooting from the field, to go along with eight assists and four rebounds. Isaiah Stewart added 18 points on 4-of-8 shooting, which included three made 3-point field goals.

Detroit sustained two injuries in the loss. Ausar Thompson's night was cut short two minutes into the game because of an ankle injury. Midway through the fourth quarter, Ron Holland II exited the game due to an eye injury.
