Cardinals, Reds postponed due to rainy weather, will be made up as doubleheader Saturday

CINCINNATI — The forecast for the evening was as consistent as the rainy conditions all day around Great American Ball Park, so before the teams reported to the field, the Cincinnati Reds announced Friday night's game was postponed.
The St. Louis Cardinals and Reds will play a split doubleheader Saturday.
Game 1 of the doubleheader will be at 1:10 p.m. ET. Andre Pallante will start the afternoon game. Game 2 will be the previously scheduled game for 7:15 p.m., and Kyle Leahy will start that game for the Cardinals.
The postponed game gives the Cardinals a second consecutive off day, but it also assures they'll play six games in the next five days. All of them will be against National League Central rivals, and three of the next four will be day games, weather permitting.
The ripple effect of Saturday's doubleheader could lead the Cardinals to call on a starter for Wednesday's game against Milwaukee or consider using the 27th player on the roster Saturday as a spot starter.
Hunter Dobbins started Wednesday for Class AAA Memphis and is not available for Saturday's doubleheader.
Leahy was originally scheduled starter for Friday night's game at GABP.
Pallante was already on turn for a start Saturday.
This is the second division game the Cardinals have had postponed by poor weather so far this season. They previously had a home game against Milwaukee rescheduled for a mega-series later this summer when the Brewers visit for five games in four days from July 6 through July 9.
The Cardinals are in the midst of a 12-game stretch against NL Central teams that includes the first series of the summer against the Reds and the first series this season vs. the Cubs.
Ahead of Friday's game, the Cardinals promoted outfielder Bryan Torres from Class AAA Memphis and played outfielder Nathan Church on the 10-day injured list with a shoulder strain. The Reds put Gold Glove-winning third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes on the IL with a bulging disc. He was replaced on the active roster by All-Star slugger Eugenio Suarez.
