My Pet World: Helping a skittish dog go for a walk – and safety during the solar eclipse

Cathy M. Rosenthal, Tribune Content Agency on

Thank you for your thoughts on this matter. It's always important to be mindful of our surroundings and choose words accordingly, even when communicating with furry friends.

Dear Cathy,

I am the mom of two Labradoodles. Do my dogs need to stay inside or wear safety glasses during the partial solar part of the upcoming eclipse?

— Debbi, Long Island, New York

Dear Debbi,

There is no need to worry about your pets with the upcoming eclipse. Animals do not look up at the sky or the sun, so your dog's eyes are perfectly safe.
