'THE GARFIELD MOVIE'

Rated PG for action/peril and mild thematic elements.

What it’s about: Everyone's favorite lazy, lasagna-loving orange cat embarks on an improbable milk heist with faithful pup Odie and his estranged dad Vic.

The kid attractor factor: The animation and kid-friendly story.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Sometimes it takes an adventure to break out of your shell and connect with those who matter in your life.

Violence: Some perilous situations but nothing too scary.

Language: None

Sex: None

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: Fine for kids of all ages, just some action/thrilling sequences and themes of parental estrangement.

'FURIOSA: A MAD MAX SAGA'

Rated R for sequences of strong violence, and grisly images.

What it’s about: The prequel film to "Mad Max: Fury Road" fleshes out the tragic and action-packed backstory of war-rig driver Furiosa.

The kid attractor factor: The action may be a draw for teens, but there is not much appeal for kids.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Hope can be found in the unlikeliest of places, and it's the thing that keeps us human.

Violence: Some wild action sequences and violence throughout, including torture, shooting, killing, stabbing, self-sacrifice, and all manner of creative bodily destruction throughout.

Language: Not much.

Sex: Oblique references to potential sexual violence.

Drugs: The War Boys huff chrome.

Parents’ advisory: This is too action-packed and violent for kids. OK for teens.
