'DEAR EVAN HANSEN'

Rated PG-13 for thematic material involving suicide, brief strong language and some suggestive references.

The kid attractor factor: Teens and older kids may be drawn to the source material and content.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Always tell the truth, even if a lie is what someone wants to hear.

Violence: References to suicide and suicide attempts, an accident falling out of a tree, reckless driving.

Language: Some swearing

Sex: References to hookups, homosexuality, etc.

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: Okay for older kids and teens.

'BIRDS OF PARADISE'

Rated R for drug use, sexual content, language and brief nudity.

What it’s about: Two teenage girls compete for the top prize at a Paris ballet school

The kid attractor factor: Teens will be drawn to this sexy and sordid tale of competitive ballet

Good lessons/bad lessons: It's okay to break with the system and follow your heart. You are your only advocate.

Violence: Some slapping, fisticuffs, fighting, references to suicide

Language: Swearing throughout

Sex: A few sex scenes, some nudity

Drugs: Drug use (pills, etc.), smoking and drinking throughout

Parents’ advisory: This is aimed at a young adult/teen audience, and it's okay for teens of all ages, but it does contain some racy material including sex and drug material so be aware of that for your teenager.
