Ford Motor Co. sales totaled 509,764 in the third quarter, a year-over-year decrease of 6.6% and a continuation of declines from the first half of 2026.

The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker again projected confidence despite the decrease, noting that total vehicle sales volume was "essentially unchanged" for the quarter when adjusting for the phaseout of the popular Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair SUVs. The company also noted that volumes dipped about 1% across the entire U.S. auto industry.

“We delivered a solid quarter and continued to gain retail share adjusted for the planned sunset of Escape and Corsair,” said Andrew Frick, president of the automaker's internal combustion engine and electric vehicle divisions.

"Customers continue to choose our trucks, SUVs and performance vehicles, with F-Series, Bronco and our hybrid truck lineup posting standout results. Our dealers continue to turn our inventory quickly, and our vehicle stock is healthy as we head into the fourth quarter,” he added in a press release.

The company pointed to strong F-Series sales in September and the Super Duty's "best quarterly production performance in 19 years" as highlights from the quarter. Ford produced more than 110,275 units of the heavy truck in the past three months.

Ford also saw success with the Maverick Hybrid truck, which it touted as the country's top-selling hybrid pickup. The model had its best-ever third quarter with a sales volume of 27,793 units. Maverick sales of all powertrains (41,970) were up 20.4% compared to the same period last year.

The Ford Bronco similarly saw record third-quarter (38,020) and year-to-date sales (114,956).

Electric vehicle sales, which currently represent a small part of Ford's product mix, were down sharply (80.2%) compared to the third quarter of 2025. The drop-off was expected after Ford discontinued the F-150 Lightning.

Still, the company's two remaining EVs — the Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit van — both saw significant declines. Mach-E sales totaled 5,574 for the quarter (down 72.4%), while E-Transit sales totaled 184 (down 57.2%).

Ford Transit sales remained healthy, totaling 119,185 through September (a 0.5% increase from 2025). Software sales have also grown. The company reported more than 1.7 million active subscriptions through September, an increase of more than 40% over last year.
