Will there be sports in Heaven?

Q: When I die, I’ll go to Heaven, but I’m not ready to go yet because I’m on a winning team and working my way to the pros. Someone said that I'd better enjoy it now because in the Heaven I brag about all the time, there’ll be no sports to enjoy, and it will lead to boredom. This terrifies me because it’s all I think about. – S.F.

A: One of the most important things the Bible tells us about Heaven is that it is far greater than anything we can possibly imagine. The joy we may get out of sports or anything else on Earth is insignificant compared with the joy God has in store for those who have received Him as Lord and Savior.

Make sure Christ comes first. Those who truly experience fellowship with Christ know it surpasses all worldly activities. “Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1 John 2:15, NASB).

In Heaven, there’ll be no unhappiness. Heaven’s resources will never be depleted, and there’ll be no competition over the distribution of those resources. Harmony will reign among Heaven’s population.

Heaven boring? Nothing can eclipse the presence of the King of kings and Lord of lords. He’s the Creator of all that’s good and fulfilling. Our best imagination greatly pales in the light of His glory. It’s Christ who adds colors, glory, beauty, and life.

God has given us in His Word everything we need to know to live for Him on this Earth. The Bible tells us what He wants us to know about Heaven; if our specific questions are not answered, it is for this reason: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9, NLT). Do we trust Him? Is our love first for our Savior?
