White to Play

Here’s another miniature puzzle where White has to win this by queening his pawn. The black knight will have his hands full trying to stop getting to the eighth rank.

The first move is obvious! No choice. 1.e7 Ne6 Black has two other tries, the second of which is more challenging--1...Na6 2.Nf6 Nc7 3.Nd5+; 1...Ne4 2.Nc7 Nd6 3.Kb4 Kf4 4.Kc5 Ke5 5.Kc6 Ne8 6.Kd7 Nd6 7.Nb5 Nxb5 8.e8=Q+ 2.Ka4 Kd4 2...Kf4 3.Nf6 Nc7 (3...Ng7 4.Nh5+) 4.Nd5+ 3.Nd6 Ng7 3...Nc7 4.Nb5+ 4.Nf5+ and wins. The dance of the knights existing in all the lines is really quite something. I wish I knew the composer.
