William Steinitz was a great world champion. Against an amateur, he started out without his queen rook and found himself with his queen under attack.
Steinitz not only did not need his missing rook, but he gives up his queen as well! 1.dxe6 Nxb3 Also losing, but taking a bit longer, was 1...Nxc4 2.exf7+ Kd7 3.Qxc4 Kc8 4.Be7 Qd7 5.f8Q+ Rxf8 6.Bxf8 Kb8 7.Ne5 2.exf7+ Kd7 3.Be6+ Kc6 4.Ne5+ Kb5 5.Bc4+ Ka5 6.Bb4+ Ka4 7.axb3#
