This is a game won by Asa Hoffmaan vs. S. Goregliad in Washington, D.C. in 1965. He uses one of the oldest attacking themes in chess.


Solution:

Lucena’s Mate, going back to the 1400s, appears: 1.Nh6+ Kh8 [1...gxh6 2.Qxf7+ Kh8 3.Bd4+ Bf6 4.Bxf6#] 2.Qxf7 [2.Nxf7+ Kg8 3.Nh6+ Kh8 4.Bd4 Ne6 5.Qf7 Nxd4 6.Qg8+ Rxg8 7.Nf7#] 2...Ne6 3.Qg8+ Rxg8 4.Nf7#
