There are quite a few mates in four here. Can you checkmate Black in THREE moves?
Solution:
A composition by W. Von Holtzhausen, 1923. 1.Rf4 Bxf4 [1...Kb8 2.f8Q+ Kc7 3.Rf7#; 1...Bh4 2.f8Q+ Bd8 3.Qxd8#]2.f8Q+ Bb8 3.Qf3# Which the queen couldn't do if the rook hadn't given itself up.
