Antisemitic graffiti drawn on Yeshiva school buses in Brooklyn blasted by Mamdani, Hochul

NEW YORK — Vandals scrawled “F— Israel” and other antisemitic remarks on the sides of four school buses parked outside a Brooklyn Yeshiva — a hate crime quickly blasted by Mayor Zohan Mamdani, Gov. Kathy Hochul and other city leaders.
The graffiti was spotted on the yellow school buses parked at Bedford Ave. and Williamsburg St. in Williamsburg around 9:51 a.m. Monday, cops said.
Images posted by Williamsburg 365 show the anti-Israel slogans “America First” and “Free Palestine” written in black spray-paint on one of the buses beside the swastika.
“As a mother and grandmother, it sickens me to think of children arriving at school to find their buses defaced with swastikas and hateful antisemitic messages,” Hochul said in a statement. “No Jewish child or family should have to endure this kind of fear and intimidation.”
“Those responsible must be identified, arrested, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
The vandalized buses belonged to yeshivas including Satmar, Sanz Klausenburg, and Tiferes Yisrael, Williamsburg 365 reported.
“The antisemitic vandalism targeting school buses in South Williamsburg is abhorrent. Every New Yorker — especially our children — deserves to live free of such hatred,” said Mamdani. “My team is in contact with the NYPD and community leaders.”
“We will continue to use every tool at our disposal to confront antisemitism, hold those responsible accountable and ensure that hatred has no place in our city.”
The vandalism is being investigated by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force. There were no immediate arrests.
Hate crimes are down 35% in the 90th Precinct where the vandalism occurred, with 13 incidents this year compared to 20 during the same period in 2025, NYPD stats current as of Sunday show.
That’s better than the 16% spike in hate crimes across the five boroughs, where there were 522 incidents citywide as opposed to 450 last year.
More than half of all hate crimes in the city are against Jews, NYPD officials said.
