BOSTON — Patrick Clancy is speaking out for the first time since he took the stand in his ex-wife’s triple murder trial.

His former spouse, Lindsay Clancy, is accused of murdering the couple’s three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, eight months, in January of 2023. Her weeks-long trial ended in a hung jury earlier this month.

In a clip posted on social media by CBS’s 60 Minutes, Patrick Clancy says that he still speaks to his children.

“I talk to them,” Clancy says in the short video while sitting on a park bench.

“What do you say?” 60 Minutes correspondent Ross Douthat asks.

“Help me,” Clancy replies, “all the time.”

Clancy’s current wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, will also join parts of the interview, CBS noted in another post.

The interview, set to air Sunday night, will be the first time that Clancy has spoken publicly, not through an attorney, since he was called as the first witness in his ex-wife’s case.

Lindsay Clancy doesn’t dispute that she killed their kids, instead, her attorney Kevin Reddington argued that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time and can’t be held criminally responsible for their deaths.

Patrick Clancy testified to her mental decline in the months leading up to the killings and her own suicide attempt. The defendant is paralyzed from jumping out of her second-story bedroom window.

On the stand, Patrick Clancy described her as a wonderful mother who tried to get help for her postpartum mental health issues.

Judge William Sullivan excused Clancy from the courtroom before jurors, reporters, and members of the public listened to the 911 call he made that night.

The call was impounded, per Clancy’s request, as were photos from his children’s autopsies.

During the call, he can be heard initially tending to Lindsay Clancy, who he found lying semi-conscious in their yard after returning home from picking up takeout and children’s medicine.

When first responders arrived, he tells them he’s going to look for his kids.

The call picks up the sound of him walking quickly, maybe running. He calls out, “Guys?” Then, the screaming starts.

He says the children’s names and wails for minutes.

“She killed the kids,” he screeches.

After the recording played, a recess was called and many people in the courtroom were crying, including Lindsay Clancy, who sobbed, “Oh my God.”

During the trial, parts of social media took aim at Patrick Clancy, criticizing him for being remarried and making claims about him without evidence – some went so far as to accuse him of killing the children himself.

His attorney has issued statements warning that there will be repercussions for those who continue to make false claims about him.

After Sullivan declared a mistrial, his attorney David Meier also wrote, in a statement, “Patrick Clancy is grateful to the Court and to the jurors for their hard work, their commitment, and their perseverance.”

“The loss of Patrick’s children is something from which he will never recover and from which there will never be closure,” he continued. “The prospect of reliving this tragedy through another trial is extraordinarily painful — for Patrick, for his family, and for all [of] us.”
