FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A teen from West Park has been charged as an adult in a shooting in Hollywood that killed one person.

Gentle Edwards, 15, was charged by indictment this week and transferred from the Juvenile Detention Center to the Paul Rein Detention Facility, where he remained as of Friday.

Hollywood Police officers found a person who had been shot to death about 9:30 p.m. April 22 in the 7300 block of Farragut Street, police department spokesperson Deanna Bettineschi said in a news release in May. She did not provide further information about the investigation or the circumstances of the shooting.

The police department did not release the victim’s name, gender and age. That information is redacted in court records.

Edwards was arrested last month after he turned himself in at the Hollywood Police Department, the police department previously said.

He faces one count of first-degree murder with a firearm and one count of aggravated assault with a firearm.

Details of the circumstances of the shooting were not available in court records Friday.
