Minogue wins endorsements of Massachusetts RNC committeeman, woman

After a dominant performance at the MassGOP Convention that saw him win the Republican endorsement for governor with support from 70.4% of delegates, Mike Minogue has now secured the endorsement of Republican National Committeeman Brad Wyatt and Committeewoman Janet Fogarty.
“He is organized, well-funded, and ready to take the fight to Governor Maura Healey this fall,” Fogarty and Wyatt said in a joint statement, breaking from the tradition of waiting until after the primary to officially endorse a statewide candidate.
The two RNC committee members explained that the decision was “driven by Minogue’s resounding victory and the unusually short window between the September 1st primary and the November 3rd general election,” also highlighting the anticipated impact of early voting. They say they remained neutral to all three gubernatorial candidates throughout the process and commended Mike Kennealy for running his statewide campaign.
“Defeating the one-party Democratic machine in Massachusetts requires unity behind our strongest candidate. With nearly half of voters casting ballots early or by mail, and a late September 1st Republican Primary creating a compressed timeline to the general election, Republicans cannot afford to lose momentum. An early endorsement gives our nominee the best possible head start to reach independent voters and offer Massachusetts a real alternative.” Fogarty and Wyatt added.
“This decision allows us to focus our efforts on supporting our candidates up and down the ballot. Mike Minogue has run a positive, forward-looking campaign focused on results. He is best positioned to unify Republicans, appeal to Independents and disaffected Democrats, and lead the fight for accountability, reform, and principled leadership in Massachusetts,” they said.
Minogue won the Republican endorsement in a landslide victory, taking in a whopping 70.4% of the votes at the Saturday convention.
Brian Shortsleeve’s campaign just survived as he earned 278 votes, or 15% support, the threshold for making the ballot. Mike Kennealy failed to make the ballot after coming up short at 14.11%, or 253 votes. Minogue earned 1,262 votes.
Minogue’s endorsement came as a record number of delegates gathered at the DCU Center in Worcester, also selecting the party’s nominees for lieutenant governor and other offices.
In his speech to delegates prior to the vote, Minogue promised to repeal the NetZero by 2050 climate mandate and the MBTA Communities Act, to end free ‘right to shelter’ laws for illegal immigrants in Massachusetts, and that he would protect the 2nd Amendment, among other things, if elected.
As of the Saturday convention, Shortsleeve and running mate Shawn Oliver remained committed to taking on Minogue in the September primary.
