3 dead in 'targeted' shooting near SW Atlanta mall

ATLANTA — Two people and a gunman were killed Saturday afternoon in a shooting in Atlanta’s West End neighborhood, police said.
The deadly encounter happened in the 600 block of Evans Street, which is across the street from the Mall West End, around 1:25 p.m. According to police, a man approached two other people and began to shoot at them.
One of those individuals returned fire and fatally shot the suspect, authorities added. All three were struck and pronounced dead.
Police at the scene told Channel 2 Action News that those killed included a 17-year-old, and two others in their 20s and 30s. Their identities were not released.
“The preliminary investigation indicates this was a targeted shooting,” police confirmed, but the motive behind the incident was not provided.
