Khabibulin signing highlights hockey deals
Khabibulin, 36, posted a 25-8-7 record with Chicago last season.
"Nikolai is a world class goaltender who has proven himself throughout his career as one of the best in the game," Edmonton General Manager Steve Tambellini said. "He has had success at many levels of hockey and we're looking forward to seeing him continue that success here in Edmonton."
Khabibulin had a 1.71 goals-against average with five shutouts during the 2004 playoffs.
In other hockey transactions Wednesday, Vancouver re-signed forwards Daniel and Henrik Sedin to five-year contracts. The twins have played their entire careers with the Canucks after being drafted in 1999.
Phoenix signed goaltender Jason LaBarbera, who split time with Los Angeles and Vancouver last season, while veteran defenseman Scott Niedermayer agreed to terms with Anaheim and goaltender Scott Clemmensen signed a three-year contract with Florida.
Clemmensen filled in for Martin Brodeur in New Jersey last season after Brodeur suffered a biceps injury.
